The four PAST TENSES of Spanish

1) Pretérito Perfecto (Present Perfect) - HE, HAS > ADO and IDO When something has just happened - YO HE COMIDO (I have eaten) THEY WILL ALL END IN ADO OR IDO no matter of plural or gender!!!! - great news! AR > ADO, ER + IR > IDO SER - yo he SIDO (I have been (permanent thing)) ESTAR - yo he ESTADO (I have been(Temporary thing or location)) IR - yo he IDO (I have gone) Has sido una camarera antes? (Have you been a waitress before?) - Si, he sido una camarera antes (Yes, I've been a waitress before) This tense uses HABER with PAST PARTICIPLE he has ha hemos habéis han 2) Pretérito Imperfecto (Past Continuous) - ABA, ERA and ÍA Uncompleted actions in the past, no definite beginning or ending - THINK OF ABBA as the group of their ERA!!! Israel December 2022

I decided to travel to Israel for the Christmas of 2022, mostly because I've got issues with my family and I needed to have an alternative Christmas away from all those stereotypes about being with your family, giving presents to each other etc. Normally I enjoy all that Christmassy stuff but this year I was blocked from seeing my kids, (long story, best I don't mention the details, I'm confident it will all get resolved eventually). PAST PARTICIPLE - ado's and ido's

Before we start using PAST TENSE , its important to understand the PAST PARTICIPLE - they are the ed' s or en 's of English. In general we use ADO, IDO, ITO, IERTO, UELTO, UESTO at the ending, most of the time. REGULAR VERBS > ADO, IDO : hablar > ar + ado = hablado (spoken) comer > er + ido = comido (eaten) vivir > ir + ido = vivido (lived) IRREGULAR VERBS > ITO, IERTO, UELTO, ESTO : abrir (to open) > abierto (open) (cerrar (to close) - cerrado (closed) - es regular) cubrir (to cover) > cubierto (covered) decir (to say) > dicho (said) escribir (to write) > escrito (written) freír (to fry) > frito (fried) hacer (to do) > hecho (done) morir (to die) > muerto (dead) poner (to put) > puesto (put) resolver (to resolve) > resuelto (resolved) romper (to break) > roto (broken) ver (to see) > visto (seen) volve...
